Every month, we field hundreds (if not thousands!) of questions through email, social media, and comments on the blog. While I love hearing from so many readers and genuinely enjoy answering as many questions as I can, a surprising percentage of the inquiries that we receive have already been covered in great detail in one of our many resources.  

We’ve spent the past 20 years writing, filming, and sharing as much as we possibly can about gardening, growing cut flowers, and flower arranging. During that time, we have created a tremendous library of resources, and I thought it would be helpful to give you an overview of where you can find them all.

Floret Books
In my first book, Cut Flower Garden, you’ll find easy-to-follow steps for planting, cultivating, and harvesting more than 175 varieties of flowers. My second book, A Year in Flowers, shows you how to create seasonally inspired arrangements using local flowers. My third book, Discovering Dahlias, dives deep into the beauty and diversity of one of the most beloved cut flowers of all time. And my fourth book, Bloom to Seed, teaches you how to grow, harvest, dry, thresh, clean, and store seeds, including detailed information on how to save seeds for 50 popular flower varieties. 

Floret Blog
In the early days of Floret, I decided to start a blog in an effort to become a better writer. It’s hard to believe just how far it’s come since my first post way back in 2006! The Floret Blog takes you behind the scenes here on the farm and is filled with hundreds of photo-filled stories about things I’ve learned along the way.

Online Resources & the Floret Library
The resources section of our website is overflowing with photo-filled tutorials on dozens of topics, including soil preparation, seed starting, variety selection, growing specific types of flowers, and so much more. 

Another wonderful resource is the Floret Library, which includes more than 1,500 unique cut flower varieties that have all been grown and tested here on our farm. You can search the library in a number of different ways—by plant collection, by color, by form, or by special features. 

But the best feature of all is that the entire library is printable! If you’re a visual learner or a paper person, like I am, this is going to be a game changer for you. You can choose to print an entire group of plants—for example, peonies—as a full set of planning cards, or you can narrow your selections by color or another feature and print only those cards. Each planning card includes a beautiful color photograph and the full variety name. These cards can be cut out and used for garden planning or wedding and event design. 

Our TV Show
In 2021, Growing Floret, a documentary series about our farm, debuted on the Magnolia Network. Season 1 follows the farm and our team’s transformation over a full year, with each episode exploring a different season and what it takes to build a heart-centered, creative business. Season 2 examines four special projects—roses, flower breeding, education, and the natural world—through the lens of legacy. Both seasons earned Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lifestyle Program. Floret’s YouTube Channel
Our YouTube channel is filled with glimpses of life on the farm and is an invitation to come behind the scenes and stay connected to the living rhythm here at Floret. There, you’ll find how-tos, Floret Farm Journal episodes, Floret Original films, stories from the farm, and lessons gathered from years of growing and learning. Mini Courses
Throughout the year, we offer a series of video tutorials called mini courses that demonstrate the techniques we use for growing and harvesting flowers and saving seed on a small scale. These online classes are free, but registration is required. Click here to sign up for our current mini course. 

Flower Farming Workshop & Scholarships
For the past 10 years, we’ve hosted Floret’s Flower Farming Workshop each winter, a 6-week intensive online course that covers everything I’ve learned about growing cut flowers and building a successful flower business on a small scale. Registration for the Flower Farming Workshop opens in the fall, and the class runs from January through mid-February. Flower Arranging Workshop
Floret’s Flower Arranging Workshop is a self-paced online learning program focused on the art of seasonal floral design and building a thriving floral business. Through detailed how-to video tutorials, we demonstrate the essential techniques, design fundamentals, and tried-and-true processes that were the foundation of Floret’s wedding and event business and wildly successful workshop series.
